How Ciclo works

This is documentation of the app: hosting, encryption, forecasts, and UI labels. Health education (the cycle itself, symptoms, when to seek care) lives in the in-app Learn tab.

The app

  • What Ciclo is (and is not)

A logging and forecasting app. Not a medical device, not contraception, not a way for the host to read your diary.

  • How the forecast works

A probability over upcoming days, mixed with a published typical length. Ovulation is not predicted.

  • Calendar phases and “estimated”

What Follicular · estimated means, and how that differs from the next-period forecast.

  • Inner seasons

The season badge on the cycle card, and the full-screen guide behind it.

Run and host

  • Host on Vercel

Root directory apps/web, Neon Postgres, Resend DNS, the env vars you actually need.

  • Run it yourself

Local Next.js for UI work, Docker Compose for app + Postgres on this machine.

Privacy and accounts

  • How data is stored

Encrypted in the browser, ciphertext in Postgres, no password reset by design.

  • Email vs 12-word accounts

Two ways to hold the same kind of device secret. Email cannot decrypt the diary alone.

  • Optional anonymous research pool

Cycle lengths only, no account map. Off until you opt in. Not a backup.
